SPIC MACAY presents “Jinne Lahore Nahi Vekhya”

Naya Theatre an acting troop comprising of Chattisgarhi Folk Artist, in association with SPIC MACAY non profit organization pioneering the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture with the help of SJA Alumni Association body of ex-students of SJA staged a play , “Jisne Lahore Nai Vehya”. At the SJA Auditorium on the 11th of September.

 The program commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal Brother A.J. George Mr. Randhir Arora (President, Mr. Praveen Chandhok (Secretary) of the SJA Alumni Association and Ms. Ngeem Tanvir ( President of the Naya Theatre).

Naya Theatre was founded in 1959 by late director, writer and actor Habib Tanvir the recipient of a number of prestigious awards. Presently his daughter Ms. Nageem Tanvir emulating the footsteps of her renowned father is actively involved in the cause so dear to him.

The troupe presented a redition of Asghar Wafahti’s play , “Jine Lahore Nai Vehya”. Which is a timeless classic, it is poignant story of the dark time called partition reflecting fundamentalism. 

The cast comprised around thirty artist including thirty artists including the “Peepli Live” famed Onkar Das, Yogesh Tiwari, Flora Bose, Nahid Tanvir, Ramchandran Singh-the brilliant Actors an emotional, touching  and arousing performance which not only won accolades but an standing ovation from the entire audience.

Lastly the Principal Rev. Bro. A.J. George proposed a vote of thanks and thanked Mrs. Roopi Mahendroo the Chairperson of SPIC MACAY in Uttarakhand and SJA Alumni Association while addressing the gathering, motivated the students to be a part of SPIC MACAY and the entire troupe of Naya Theatre were presented by mementos by SJA Alumni Association which were distributed by Principal Rev. Bro. A.J. George.
