SJA won Senior Boys Council Football Tournament

The final match of the Senior Boys Council Football Tournament was scheduled to take place on the 12th of September, but was postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The match then took place on the 13th of September. Starting at 11 am in the SJA Big Field, St. Joseph’s Academy faced off against Moravian Institute in the final match. In the semifinals held on 11th September, St. Joseph’s Academy beat Carmen School, Dalanwala, while Moravian Institute defeated Doon Presidency School to proceed for the finals.

The chief guest for the occasion was Rev. Bro. Benedict, the Superior of the Patrician congregation. He kicked off the ball and declared the match open. Also present were Rev. Bro. Dennis Joseph, Principal of St. Joseph’s Academy and Rev. Bro. Tomy Verges, Principal of St. George’s College, Mussoorie.

The first half of the match saw no goals being scored by either team. In the second half, Moravian Institute’s Renpeishang scored the first goal. SJA however, had a brilliant comeback. Devang Joshi and Migmar scored one goal each and led to SJA winning the match as well as the tournament.

The prizes to the runners-up as well as the winners were given by Bro. Tomy Verges, Principal of St. George’s College, Mussorie, Mr. P.K. Gupta, Headmaster of Moravian Institute and Bro. Benedict. Present on the occasion were the PTIs of Moravian Institute as well as St. Joseph’s Academy -Mr Dara, Mr. S. P.Joshhi, Mr. Pramod Mr. Pushpak, Mr. D.Bhandari. Mr. R. S. Rautela and Mrs. A. Mamgain . While giving a vote of thanks, Bro. Dennis appreciated both the participating teams as well tbe coaches and the referees who remained tirelessly involved in the event.He didn’t forget to mention the rigourous training given by the SJA team coach Mr. D. Bhandari that brought the team its much desired victory
