Republic Day celebration at St. Joseph’s Academy

India is the largest democracy in the world. Its journey down this glorious path began on 26 January, 1950; when it finally became a republic.

   This red letter day was celebrated with great fervour and zeal at St. Joseph’s Academy. The chief guest for the occasion was Shri S.C.Mamgain, D.I.G., I.T.B.P., Uttarakhand, who hoisted the national flag with the Principal, Rev. Brother A.J. George along with the reverberating tune of the National Anthem being played by the school band.

   Thereafter, Kevin V. Daniel led all in prayer; followed by a mesmerizing prayer dance by Jahnavi Bhatia and Swarmayee Maratha of class VI. Tanya Agarwal and Gauri Bansal delivered an enlightening speech infused with patriotic fervour. Students of class VI dressed as various freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Indira Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rani Laxmibai; quoted their famous slogans which stirred the entire nation during pre-independence days.

   The middle school choir then presented a harmonious medley of patriotic songs such as ‘World Anthem’, ‘Saare Jahan se Accha’ and ‘Choro kal ki Baate’. After this, the audience was treated to a vibrant dance performance.

   The Chief Guest in his addressal emphasized the significance of our ethos and their conservation. Quoting beautiful inspirational lines from a hindi poem, he motivated the youth to realize their duties as citizens of this great nation.

   Lastly, the Principal proposed a vote of thanks to the chief guest and applauded the great job being done by I.T.B.P. He also inspired the students to opt for defence services to help protect the country and its hard earned freedom.
