Principal’s Message

“Every production of an artist should be the expression of an adventure of his soul.”

And after all, who are we, if not artists? Nobody, sent upon the earth, is a mere creation. That person is an embodiment of the light that our Lord saw in us. The light of knowledge and the comprehension of self. But that light needs direction. And we, here at St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun, seek merely to search out that light. Our aim is to make a child the most perfect version of himselfwhile retaining his own unique identity.

It gives me great pleasure, as the Principal, to welcome you to the website of this prestigious institution. We, believe firmly in our age-old motto –“Laborare Est Orare”… that literally means “Work is worship”. Our lives are, and have always been dedicated to the service of the community, and to that end, our entire team of teachers… nay, educators… work day in and day out, to impart education in a sincere, dedicated and self-confident way, so that a visible and qualitative change is there in the learner. Each one is unique, and each can bring his own tune to the world’s medley. It is our aim, to serve to bring about a change in a child’sperception of the worldand give him a broader outlook, so that he learns to be tolerant and understanding, and finally learns to appreciatehis blessings.

Within the hallowed portals of this venerated institution, a child will learn to explore, to probe and to question for, gone are the days when it would be enough for a child to accept tamely all he is told. Our children are taught both, the value of humility and the necessity of understanding and appreciating their own talents. We set the goals high, and gradually nudge the learners out of their comfort zone, letting them increase and utilize their capabilities. The sky is their limit, for their minds are free and not dictated upon.

However, in addition to being individualistic, our students are also taught how to be worthy members of the society. They are taught to develop a healthy relationship and productive partnerships with friends, family and fellow scholars, that enables them to realize the necessity of familial ties and co-dependence in today’s society.

It goes without saying that our institution believes in providing state-of-the-art facilities, to make sure that our young minds have the best possible environment to hone their skills in. That, coupled with the innumerable opportunities of self-expression provided by our school through curricular, co-curricular and extra- curricular activities, makes sure of an all-round development of the child.

A blend of peace and harmony, and of co-operation and good-will exists here, and that is what ultimately makes our men and women, worthy members of the society… Members whom the world can be proud of.

Yours sincerely,

Bro. Babu Varghese
