Foundation Day Celebrated on 2nd Feb

On second February , the SJA family gathered in the school auditorium to celebrate the 207th foundation day . 18 was on this day that father Daniel Delany of Ireland founded the Patrician Brothers ‘community in 1808 to spread education amongst the masses . The program commenced with the lighting of the lam by the principal Rev brother Dennis Joseph and Vice Principal Rev Brother Xavier as a mark of respect to the founder of one of the greatest congregation in the world which has done yeoman service to society. The school choir invoked the blessings of god with their spritual song  ‘ May the god lord ” and a hymn titled’ The Breastplate of St .Patrick’ followed by a short prayer . Up next was a presentation on Bishop Daniel Delany’s life depicting how and under what circumstances Father Delany founded the Patrician Brothers society . Rev Brother  Dennis enlightened the audience about Bishop Delany’s vision and efforts to foster an educated generation and how he had worked selflessly for the society. The event proceeded with musical play composing few dances by class 8 students which clearly showcased the cause and circumstances of conception of the Patrician Brothers. In 1800, Ireland suffered illiteracy and the tyranny of the then government . Drawn to the plight of the people,  Bishop Delany founded the congregation with the religious, moral and literacy education of children in mind .The program also included melodious rendition of a number of songs, The event concluded with an inspiring speech of Bro Dennis Joseph who reminded us about the principles of congregation and motivated  everyone to follow are divine steps of our Founder in all walks of life.
