St. Joseph’s Academy boasts of a huge auditorium which was built in the year 1984 inaugurated by Blessed Mother Teresa. It has the capacity to accommodate around 1300 people. Its acoustics are so remarkable that we have innumerable schools and other institutions which host their programmes in our school auditorium.

The Audio visual room is used regularly by the students to update their knowledge on various subjects, from geography to science.

Keeping in mind the advancing technology, St. Joseph’s Academy has a newly constructed Conference Room with facilities for the overhead projector. Both students and teachers prepare their PowerPoint Presentations and present it here. The Conference Room is also used for the Principal- Teacher meetings and meetings of the Principal with Heads of other institutions.


We at St. Joseph’s Academy don’t exaggerate when we say that the laboratories in our school are the largest in Uttarakhand. Each laboratory has a top granite finish, revolving stools that can be adjusted according to the students height and comfort and generator back up to ensure that there is no hindrance in the continuity of the experiments.

A large , modern state –of –art Biology Laboratory is fully equipped with about 125 charts, 75 specimens, 50 slides, scores of models and mounts catering to both middle and senior school. Regular CD presentations make the subject interesting. A herbarium of various species is maintained and regularly updated in our data bank.

Two spacious and well-equipped Chemistry laboratories can accommodate 50 students per laboratory at one time. Each laboratory has a demonstration table, modern shelves to store reagent bottles, sinks and charts. Proper safety measures are strictly followed.

There are two Physics laboratories which can cater to about 60 students per laboratory at one . Fitted with latest equipments, the laboratories are replete with charts and working as well as dead models. The school ensures that each student is able to work with one apparatus.

The school has three computer laboratories  which are well equipped with  sufficient number of computersto the ratio of 1:1. The computers offer networking and are fitted with latest procesors which are updated from time to time.


The school’s pride is its well furnished library on the first floor of the Heritage Building . The library is spacious , well-furnished, fully automated and can accommodate 64 students at one time. St. Joseph’s Academy library has  a collection of more than twenty five thousand books on different subjects like  Fiction, Science, History, Religion, Psychology, Logic, G.K., Quiz and other reference books. Our school provides to the students more than 30 periodicals of different titles and Newsletter . The library houses 1400 remarkable old books of Hindi fiction written by famous authors. The A/V system in the library enables students to view films and CDs based on historical plays, skits, inventions etc.

The junior school has its own library, the books of which are updated from time to time keeping in mind the changing interests of our children.

 School Infirmary

School has well equipped infirmary established for more than 25 years.

Presently managed by Lt (Mrs) Ritu Bagai (Retd), Expereienced Army Trained nursing officer. Infirmary has facilities like First Aid for minor and major problems e.g.

*Nebulization therapy

*Blood Pressure , Temperature Recording

*Weight and Height Recording

In case of emergency students/ staff is taken to hospitals in panels.

 Staff Rooms

Three staff rooms have been provided by the School keeping in mind the increasing number of teachers each year. The Teachers are provided with separate work stations , ample working space and spacious cupboards. Each staff room is equipped with a computer to meet the ever-increasing demand of technology, water-coolers, microwaves and a separate pantry is also provided. These state of art staff rooms ensure that each member of the staff is comfortable for it is the firm belief of the administration that a ‘ happy teacher makes a better teacher’.

 Student Counselor

St. Josephs’ Academy has recently inducted counseling  service to the students from primary sections to the senior secondary level by a trained psychologist.  The psychologist  Dr. Preetima Verma,  has a work experience of 18 years. The counseling services can be availed by the student, parents and staff members on regular need basis. The counselor shares a professional confidence relationship with the students and helps them on issues like time management, stress problems, learning disabilities and many other psychological problems.

 National Institute of Open School ( NIOS)

St Joseph’s Academy is an Accredited Institution (AI No. 2145) for the National Institue of Open Schooling. Examinations for Secondary and Sr. Secondary calsses are held twice a year, i.e. in May and November . Admissions are done in July/August for the following year’s exams. Choice of subjects such as Home Science,Typewriting, Secreterial Practice and other Vocational cources are available.

Candidate with a class VIII pass certificate and a minimum of 15 years of age are eligible for admission to the Secondary Examinations.

Café’ 10

 St. Joseph’s Canteen fondly named by the students as Café 10, is a place where students meet and interact over streaming cup of tea/coffee, fruit juices, spicy chat, crispy spring-rolls an so many other mouth watering dishes. Café 10 is lavish in every aspect; be it cleanliness or food quality. The café is the preferred place to reside during the recess.





Sprawling lawn with lush green and flowering plants are a specialty of St. Joseph’s . The cool shade of trees provide relief in the summer months. Sometimes one can even see activities or  classes taking place under the trees. Students are welcome to fully utilize the above for sitting , practicing for an activity or for studying but littering is strictly forbidden.

Children’s  Park

The most talked about addition to the school is the mind-blowing new play area exclusively for the little one. It has most amazing swings, giant slide, tunnel, ladders, merry-go-round etc. to make it more eye-catching. The play area has big, huge animal statues – elephants, giraffes, monkey….The play area and the huge ground surely makes a child come close to nature. Commencing on such new developments in the school campus, many parents  had to say that they were indeed privileged to have their children associated with SJA

Play Fields

St. Josephs’ Academy has a large and extensive playground with facilities for playing Football, Cricket, Hockey and Athletics.  School has a big play field which includes  a track of 400 meters., 3  Football grounds and 2  Cricket fields. The school also has 3  outdoor and 2 indoor Badminton courts, 1 Basketball court, 2 Volleyball courts, 3 Lawn Tennis courts to facilitate the students to become a good sportsman as well.

SJA Tennis

On 15th of October 2009, Tennis clay courts of St. Josephs’ Academy were unveiled in a public ceremony by the honorable  IG (Garhwal) Mr. R. S. Meena . These are the first clay courts to appear on the map of Dehra Dun. This facilitates all the budding tennis players to get the right  guidance and direction from our expert coach Mr. Rajeev Yadav to transform them into better players.
