16th May 14 , the second day of the Cultural Week at St. Joseph’s Academy was a blend of Indian and western moods and talents ranging from music and dance to drama and function. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal  Rev. Bro Dennis. The first event of the day was the folk dance. All the four houses  presented the rich culture and lifestyle of various states of India truly justifying  that India is a land of diversity. The audience felt themselves transported to the lands of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Bengal seeing the marvellous folk dance prerformances presented by the students of the four houses. Then came the solo perfomances of diferent houses and enthralled the gathering with their exceptional foot work on different classical musical pieces. The  next event was the Hindidramatics in which the budding actors regaled one and all with their antics. The  rib -tickling plays like Khiladiram Ka Mukadma , chiraag kaha roshni kaha and Charandaas Chor not only provided a heavy dose of humour but also satirized the  prevalent social vices .The festivities reached their crescendo as the choir of all the four houses sang some soul-stirring Hindi as well as  English songs .The solo singers of all the four houses left everyone swaying to the melodious tunes of the songs sung by them. The fest ended with the exhilarating and peppy western dance prerformances which set the stage on fire. The final tally of the result showed Duffy,  Dooley, Donovan and Bergin house bagging 1st  , 2nd,  3rd and  fourth positions respectively. However it is yet to be seen that which house lifts the much coveted Cock house trophy and it will be decided on 17th when the remaining events of the cultural week  are over till then Josephites will have another sleepless night.
