Bro.Eugune Timothy Dunne was a kind and honourable soul who had an indispensible part of SJA  family for quite some time. Though he left for his heavenly abode on 2nd February, 2009, his voice still echoes amongst us through the annual Inter-House debate held in his memory.

This year  the seventh edition of the debate took place on 26 August, 2015  in the school auditorium. The Chief Guest for the occasion was the principal of the school reverend Bro.Dennis, Bro.T.J  Mauldowney, Bro. Benedict and Bro. Joseph graced the occasion. The programme started with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest Bro.Dennis, Bro.Mauldowney and Bro. Benedict.

The English Debate was held first. The imminent judges who adjudged the Debate were Ms.Kamaljit Jolly,Ms. Sonika Maan and Ms Madhulika Sandhu. This year the debate was held in two rounds, round one extemporary debate followed by Turncoat. Kavya Chabra compared the event while Garima Lal was the Chairman of the debate.

The motion under fire was “  Sixteen year old can be considered as an adult “ Each debater spoke with  immaculate  precision, aplomb, conviction  and passion. In battle of wits and words in the extemporary debate Savinay Sharma of Donovan House emerged victor bagging the award of the Best Speaker and  Best Rebuttal went to Kanishk Kakar of Dooley house. Akankshya Subudhi of  Donovan house stood  Runners-Up. Donovan house were declared the Best House in English Debate.

Turncoat was held immediately after the extemporary debate where a speaker had to pick a topic from a bowl and speak for the topic and against it for 1 minute each. Every speaker dazzled the spectators with their knowledge and vigour. Kanishk Kakkar of Dooley house emerged as the Best Turncoat speaker.

This was followed by the Hindi Debate. The topic was “ Reality Show  Bal Majdoori Ka Hi Doosra Roop Hai” (Reality Shows is another form of Child Labour).The imminent judges who adjudged the event were Dr. Sudha Gupta Ms. Vinodini Sharma and Ms. Poonam Chawla. Tanvi Verma compared the event and the Chairman was Pramanshu Yadav. In the battle of  wits Aishwariya Sethi of Bergin House emerged as the Best Speaker. While Ayushi Lamba of Bergin house was adjudged runners up.

Bergin House was declared as the Best house in Hindi debate. The coveted trophy was bagged by Donovan house that emerged as the overall winner of the competition.
