Bro E.T. Dunne English/Hindi Debate

Bro. E.T. Dunne Memorial Inter-House Debate competition is one of the most awaited events at SJA. This year the fourth edition of this Debate Competition was organized on 4th August 12 in the school auditorium. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Rev. Bro. A.J. George was followed by the reading of the rules by the chairperson , Utsav  Thapliyal. Unlike the preceding years , this year the debate was in the prepared speech format and not extempore. The motion under fire in then English debate  “ The Education System Today is producing youth with high percentages but low morals. Each debater spoke with immaculate precision , aplomb , conviction and passion. The esteemed judges for the occasion were Mrs Veena Kalia, Mrs Poonam Sood and Mrs Vinita Sood. The event was compered by Paras Barthwal and the time keeper was Vaibhavi Dhasmana.

The English Debate was soon followed by a well contested hindi debate . The motion in the house was ‘ Relaity show Bachchon ko Dishaheen Kar Rahein Hain ‘. The chairperson for the occasion was Aditya Singh Bisht and the competition was compered by Lavanya Taneja . The standard of the debate being too high , the judges Mrs Kamleshwai Prasad , Mrs Poonm Chawla and Dr. Sudha Godiyal found it challenging task to choose the best speakers.

After a fierce battle of wit and oratory , the following participants enmmerged winners in the different categories.

Inter House English Debate

Best Speaker  :Bhuvanyaa Vijay – Bergin House

First Runner Up : Shalvi Garima Negi, Bergin House

Best Rebuttal : Bhuvayaa Vijay – Bergin House

Inter House Hindi Debate

Best Speaker Shubhankar Gaur  Dooley house

First Runner Up :Shubhankar Mittal – Bergin House

Best Rebuttal  : Shubhankar Gaur Dooley House

The Best Team in the Hindi Debate was from Donovan House.

Overall trophy was won by Bergin Hot. use. Lastly Bro. A. J. George applauded the students for their zealous participation and pre.oposed a vote to thanks to all.

Yesterday, ie 3rd August 2012 , Bro. E.T. Dunne Inter Class English Debate  was organized for classes VI to VII and the Topic was “ Computers will soon replace teachers in class rooms “ The result were as follows :
